Since we will be in Paris the week of Bastille Day, it seemed the perfect solution to visit Versailles on Bastille day and avoid the Paris crowds, while hopefully finding Versailles less crowded with everyone celebrating in Paris. (Hoping this is a correct assumption!) However, I can't seem to get a definitive answer from the Versailles website, as to whether they are open that day. If I plug in July 14 into the schedule, it comes up that things are open, just like every other day. But I was warned that a lot of national sites are closed on Bastille Day, so I'm questioning the accuracy of the schedule search function. Does anyone know how to find out for certain? Thanks!
That info is not easily found on their website, in fact, I did not find a schedule that makes this clear. This year July 14 happens to be a Monday and the Palace is normally closed every Monday. But I suppose it's possible they would make an exception for July 14 but don't know how to verify this since I didn't find a clear indication on the website.
