Is Tower of London best to go early or late?

By reading this helpline I've decided to make Tower of London my priority in my short 3 day stay in London.

If I'm allowing 1/2 a day for this visit. Would it be better in the first half or second half of the day?
This will be in Aug 27-29.
What else can I add to this day erlier or later?
What time the open and close the Tower?

Fernando,
I don't know what's the "Best" time, but I did mine before lunch, I thnk around 10 or 11 am. After that I went to the London Eye since it wasn't raining, and it was a nice clear day

The two of us were behind only one other couple in line before opening (early May). We were able to tarry at the crown jewels, then catch a tour. We enjoyed being there before the crowds and found a good pub for lunch afterward. If I went again, I'd do it the same way.

I went in June right at 9 am. Had the crown jewels almost to myself. And did a leisurly tour with a "beefeater" right afterwards. It was about 10.30/11 am when I left to meet up with some friends and there were line-ups almost everywhere. Came back 45 minutes before closing time (it's a day ticket with in-out-privilege) to see the rest of the tower that I didn't got to in the morning. It was busier than at 9 am, but it never felt crowded.

I'd recommend going first thing in the morning. Lots to see and it's wonderful. They have a really good cafe right there too.

as early as it opens and have a ticket purchased already...can buy tickets ahead at Victoria Sta in the tourist office there just inside the door,( and also at other locations, but this is where I bought mine as it was close for me) which also can get you into other destinations...read about it in RS's England guide book..and choose your package...if you already have a ticket you go to the front of the line or else are in a much faster moving line...can't remember which, but with little time you don't want to waste standing in line for hours ! The advanced purchase tickets are the way to go !
