My husband and I are planning to take the RER from CDG to Denfert-Rochereau and then walk to our hotel, Lenox Montparnasse at 15 rue Delambre. Is this a reasonable distance? We will each have 21" rolling bags and a carryon. Or would it be better to get off the RER at Port Royal? Thanks.
Port Royal will put you a little closer to your destination...just head west along Boul. du Montparnasse...about half a mile. It's also a smaller station and easier to get out of!
For the least amount of walking, take the RER B to Denfert Rochereau and then Metro line 4 to Vavin. You'll be one block from your hotel.
Lugging your stuff through Denfert-Rochereau to catch the metro will probably take more time, and cause you mre grief than just going thru Port Royal.
Norm may well be right on this point.
You can always stop along the way for rest.
That is such a wonderful hotel! My RS tour was there earlier in the summer. However, I did something different- I took the AirFrance (I think it is called) bus directly from CDG to Gare Montparnasse. I got lost somehow after leaving the bus, so it took way longer than it should've to walk- but once I figured out where I was, I don't think it was really more than 10 minutes. I liked that bus because I just bought the ticket on the way out of the airport and went outside and waited about 15 minutes and voila- no need to do anything but sit until arrival at the station.
No distance is too far to go with bags if you pack well.
