Does one of the Germany Trains leave from Munich Airport have a direct route to Salburg. And is the Train from Salzburg to Venice still operating.
Munich airport has only an S-Bahn link to the Munich Hbf. There you can catch one of the many trains to Salzburg. ¶There are still trains from Salzburg to Venice, but not direct. You'll probably have to change trains in Rosenheim, Germany, or Salzburg, Austria, and again in Verona, Italy. Today, the usual way is a train from Salzburg to Villach and an Austrian Rail bus from Villach to Venice. I hear it is a nice bus.
You can travel Salzburg to Venice nonstop by train. Go to www.oebb.at for schedules and information. Click on "Spar Schiene". For "destination station" put in "Venezia", not "Venice."
There is a night train (EN 237) that goes direct from Salzburg (01:34) to Venice (8:34). It spends an hour and a half in Salzburg, so you can board as early as midnight.
Be sure to buy the Bayern/Barvarian Ticket for 2 or more persons traveling together....it is now 28 eruos. Scroll half way down the page: http://www.bahn.com/i/view/DEU/en/prices/germany/laender-ticket.shtml
That Bahn page is rather sparse on information. The Bayern-Ticket is also valid to Salzburg and Kufstein, Austria, and to Ulm in Baden-Württemberg. These stations, although outside Bavaria, are "just" outside and considered "Border stations". Also, the B-T is valid on the Ausserfernbahn, a rail line from Kempten to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, through Austria (Tirol). It includes most regional buses, including those of the RVO (Regionalverkehr Oberbayern), which runs an extensive network of bus lines along the edge of the Alps from Berchtesgaden to Füssen. ____________¶The Bayern-Ticket must be signed in block letters on the line that says "Unterschrift" and that person must always be with the party.
There is a Lufthansa Airport Bus from Munich Airport directly to Salzburg: www.lufthansa-airportbus.com
Thanks everyone for the information, one last question should I buy train tickets before we leave or after we arrive in Munich & Salzburg. Terry
