I'm travelling from Paris to Ieper (Ypres) Belguim and would like to spend a few hours exploring Old Town Lille on my way to Ieper. Is it easy to go from the Lille Flandres train station into Old Town Lille? Thanks in advance.
Here is a link to the SNCF list of stations with luggage service. http://www.voyages-sncf.com/guide/voyageurs/pdf/consigne_gare.pdf
You will see Lille Flandres is not listed.
Sorry; that link appears to be out of service. Here is the list of stations with luggage service, as of a couple of years ago: Angers, Avignon-Centre, Bordeaux, Cannes, Lyon-Part Dieu, Marne la Vallée-Chessy, Marseille, Nantes, Nice, Paris-Austerlitz, Paris-Lyon, Paris-Montparnasse, Paris-Nord, Toulouse. These stations have manual left luggage offices: Dijon, Lyon-Perrache, Strasbourg However SNCF does have a functioning description of the Lille Flandres station here http://www.gares-en-mouvement.com/en/fradj/services-en-gare/services/
It appears to say (in French) that there are no self-serve lockers and I think the attribution is to anti-terrorist measures known as plan vigipirate.
Thanks very much.
According to the Gares-en-Mouvement site, the Lille Europe station has coin-operated lockers. The Lille Flandres station does not.
