Hello travel friends! I am traveling with 4 kids (ages 11, 14 and two who are 17) and we are, of course, going to have our luggage on the train that departs Collioure, FR at 903A arriving Cerbere at 918A – then, the train departs Cerbere at 932A and arrives Barcelona at 1148A. If anyone is familiar with the train stations, will we have enough time to switch to the next train? Last time I did the train thing I was with my boyfriend and he handled all the trains/transfers and helped with the luggage a bit. Just want to get clear before I go so my worries don't leak to the kids :) Thanks,
Marni
I have not done that particular transfer but typically 10 minutes, except in the very largest French trains stations. is plenty. I think if you organize your crew and aren't carrying excessive luggage, you won't have a problem. You will probably just walk down one flight of stairs and back up another to your departure track. I would organize my luggage so everyone is sure exactly what they need to grab and do it before the train pulls into the station. Relax, French train stations are really straightforward and the signage is good. Have fun!
Ditto. You'll have no problem. To make your life even easier ask the conductor when he comes by. In Switzerland (and most other European countries) they carry electronic devices with them where they can find out arrival and departure info for you while you're on the train.
When I switched from the Spanish to French train at the border, everyone got off and followed each other to the other train. You'll be doing it in the opposite direction.
As indicated in a reply to your other post, the two 17-year-olds conduct their younger siblings to the door of the car, luggage in hand, for a quick exit once the train stops. If your ticket doesn't show the platform for the connection, check the big information board in the centre of the station. Step lively (and your brood is old enough to take this responsibility) so you should look like seasoned travellers.
