Does anyone know of an authentic Greek restaurant in Paris? (or London, I'm going there too!). I'm staying in the Marais but I'm willing to travel for good food. Thank you! Janice
Try Chowhound or Yelp. It doesn't appear you're getting responses here. My short answer is that I'm certain there are many. I just haven't eaten any. Lots of kabob places, though! And a similar cuisine that is totally famous in the Marais is L A's du Falafel.
In London there is a restaurant called "The Real Greek" and they have several locations - Covent Garden, Spitalfields & Bankside. In Paris, sorry, I can't remember the name of the restaurant because it was one that I just happened upon while walking around. All I can remember is that it was very close to the Church of St. Severin, their door was open, it smelled good and they had great moussaka. I suppose it was authentic enough since the host was speaking Greek to the cooks and busboys, and none of them where outside smashing plates on the sidewalks trying to reel in tourists like some of the other Greek restaurants around Paris.
An easy way to do this is to go to the English version of the restaurant review site The Fork http://www.thefork.com/3_restaurant/Isle_of_France_restaurant/1/ Click on the box labeled "Cuisine", and "Greek" from the down menu. About a half dozen will come up. I don't know how you find if they are "authentic" or not, but you could Google Yelp or Trip Advisor for reviews.
There is... in the Latin Quarter! I believe the restaurant was called Santorini, and there are several in that area within a few blocks of each other. Husband loved it and he's Greek!
I'm curious why you are looking specifically for a Greek restaurant in Paris?
Nancy, I've been wondering the same thing myself. Go to Paris, the place in Europe that surpasses all others for it's dining, and look for food from another country. Interesting question. Kinda like going to Munich the home of BMW and wanting to drive a Spanish Seat.

Try the Acrople. Close to the corner of Rue des Ecoles and Blvd St Michel, but I think R. Ecoles changes to Rue de Ecoles de Medecine on the west side of St Michel. I tried to send somebody there a couple of years ago and they wound up going to something similar (Acropolis ?) in the same area (it sounded like it was a bit north around St Severin). That place apparently sucked. Picture menus outside, the whole works.
Thank you... to all, for your suggestions. And to the curious... I went to a Greek restaurant in Germany one time and it was the best greek food I have ever had. The next year when I went back it was closed :( I haven't had good greek food since. I'm not going to Paris because I want to find a good Greek restaurant, I would go to Greece for that. I just thought since I was in Paris I would find out if anyone could recommend one (you know, to mix things up a bit and I like greek food!). There's plenty of dialogue about the good French restaurants. Also, what I meant by authentic is exactly what Ceidleh said... the host is speaking greek to the cooks and the busboys. Thanks Janice : )
Ed's recommendation is where we go too. It's a door or two around the corner from the bookstore Gilbert Jeune. There are no displays of food in the window but the Greek owner is talking to his staff in Greek. Home cooking.
Several Greek restaurants off the Bd St Michel, round the back of the Sorbonne. Metro St-Michel. Roger
