Is Paris windy?

Okay, I know that sounds like a ridiculous question, but here's why I ask: Anyone familiar with downtown Seattle knows that even on lovely calm days elsewhere in the city, it can be skirt-liftingly windy downtown. Something about the tall buildings creating a wind tunnel effect. So I was planning to take a lightweight skirt along to Paris (second half of September), but if Paris is generally a windy (or even just breezy) place, I think I'll leave the skirt at home. :-)

P.S. The last time I was in Paris, it was November, and it was most definitely windy (and incredibly cold), but I was all bundled up, so it didn't matter.

Wow, I have never noticed Paris to be any more, or any less windy then other places.. come to think of it, I do think its been less windy then I am used to , I do live by the coast on an island. Paris being so inland, well, in the summer there seems to be no breezes to clear hot weather away,,but I have never been in Nov. so who knows.

I honestly think its just going to be hit or miss. Also, I never pack an item of clothing that isn't practical and can be worn serveral different ways or combos. I'd leave the skirt unless it matches at least three tops anyways.

It is all based on the time of the year. Wind and cold is common - particularly in November.

Along the Seine it tends to be windier than around town as a general rule.

Regarding the light weight skirt - I would not make it too light weight - as the weather is turning already towards autumn. Highs this week will be in the mid to upper 60s with a few lows in the high 40s.

I've been to Paris 7 times, in different months and don't think I have every experienced any noticable wind. But check the weather channel website before you go for the most recent weather forecast and pack accordingly.

Thanks, Jona. That "general rule" stuff is exactly what I was looking for!

I suggest you take a skirt with you in case you have a warm day. I was really glad I'd packed one last April when we had an uncomfortably warm day in Paris. I had a lightweight wool jersey skirt with me. A skirt in that material is comfortable in all but really cold weather.
