Hello everyone! My family and I will be temporarily relocated to Rothenburg for approximately 11 weeks for work purposes. The small hurdle we have is finding internet to phone home with via Skype, and paying bills online. I have confirmed the hotel we are staying in has WIFI in the lobby, but I was wondering if there was any other options anyone has looked into.
The B and B we stay at has wifi in the rooms, but the TI in the middle of the town square has internet services too. The only thing you need to do in wait in line to use the service, and there is a 15 min limit. We go to Rothenburg every year for 2 weeks and love it. This year we will once again be there for the festival. Hope you enjoy your time there....
When is that festival you spoke of, and what is a TI?
A TI is a Tourist Information center, common in Europe.
Oh! Of course. Thanks for answering such a ridiculous question. Also thanks for the tip about the TI. That could be useful!
The "festival" is probably the Meistertrunk, which celebrates the mayor's saving of the town by chugging the goblet of wine. According to the Rothenburg website, it's the 10th to 13th of June.
I have found just googling "free wifi" and the town or city name and you can find all kinds of places that offer this. From cafes, to train stations, to hotel or hostel lobbies or libraries.
There is an internet cafe right next to the Roter Hahn Hotel (and across the street from the Criminal Museum) that has very reasonable rates.
I know nothing of internet but can tell you that my family and I spent Easter in Rothenburg 2 years ago and it was lovely. Enjoy--you are so lucky 11 weeks in a fairy tale! If you have not been there before, you must go on the Nightwatchman's Tour.
