Interlaken to Munich

I will be traveling from Interlaken to Munich this May as part of a larger European tour, and just recently purchased a Eurail Pass. What countries does this particular train route cover? Does it just go from Switzerland straight into Germany, or does the train go through Austria as well? Any help or guidance is much appreciated!

There are a number of ways to get from Interlaken to Munich. Many trains go through Switzerland to Basel, then down the German side of the Rhein to Mannheim or Karlsruhe and from there to Munich. Others go around the west end of Bodensee at Schaffhausen, then through Baden-Württemberg to Ulm and from there to Munich. Another route goes to Romanshorn and across the middle of Bodensee by ferry to Friedrichshafen, then to Munich. The two routes that go through Austria are around the east end of the lake, through Bregenz (Austria) to Lindau. That route only has a few km through Austria and you can buy a p2p ticket from St. Margrethen to Lindau. The last route goes again to Begrenz, then through the Tirol to Innsbruck and down the Inn to Munich spends more time in Austria and might warrant Austria being on the rail pass. You can find the routes and their times from the German Rail website. However, you don't need to use a day of your rail pass. You can get an advance purchase ticket online from the Bahn from Interlaken Ost to Munich Hbf for many of the routes for as little as €39.
