Interlaken Area - How Many Days?, stay in I/laken or Grindlewald?

We will be going to the Interlaken area from Paris in May and have 4 nights available for the area. Should we spend 1 night in Interlaken and 3 in Grindlewald or Lautenbrunner or all 4 in the Grindlewald? I'm just afraid that we'd be taking the train up to G/wald in the dark and will miss the scenery. Are 4 nights enough or too much time? We head to Germany from there. Thank you!

Just choose one town, and stay there for the entire time....you won't miss any scenery. 4 nights is perfect.

Cheryl, You'll probably enjoy staying in Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald more than Interlaken (which tends to be a bit on the "pricey" side). If you did want to spend a day looking around Interlaken, it's easily reachable from the other locations.

Cheryl, Interlaken is best used for good rail connections, McDonalds fixes or souvenirs. Choose one of the car-free villages like Mürren on one side of the Lauterbrunnen Valley or Wengen on the other side. Incredible and stunning views that you could just sit and look at for hours. Grindelwald has some nice views, too, but it also has loads and loads of tour buses. Interlaken with its access to lakes Thun and Brienz is only a short 20 minute train ride from Lauterbrunnen. 3 or 4 nights is a good length of time.

Agree with Tim-Interlaken is a place to change trains. Lauterbrunnen is very attractive but is situated down in a valley and views of the alps will not be good. Murren would be best-or Wengen where we are headed for a second visit in June. We loved it and had incredible view of the Jungfrau from our window/balcony. Woke each morning to the bell jingling of grazing sheep and goats just below the hotel. Four nights is a nice length of time. IMO Switzerland is all about the scenery and alps.

Thank you very much for all of your comments. I will try to find a place in either Wengen or Murren, rather than Interlaken or Laut.
