We are also going to visit Innsbruck/Hall in Tyrol for 1 night. I've read where Innsbruck is a tourist center, and Rick recommends Hall in Tyrol. I'm just wondering if Hall in Tyrol is dead in the evening. Yes, Innsubruck is only 5 miles away...and we will have a car. I was thinking about staying in the "White Cross" hotel in Innsbruck, but if someone could give me a hotel tip for Hall, I would be greatly appreciative!!! Thanks everyone. Any and all advice is welcome. (^_^)
Hey Bart,
We've stayed 3 times in the last 6 years at the Gashof Badl in Hall in Tirol. Hall is a very charming and "authentic" feeling old town and Gasthof Badl is wonderful. Nice rooms, very good buffet breakfast, great Alp views (ask for a room with balcony!) and the nicest hosts (Frau Steiner and Sonja) you'll meet. You can walk across the foot bridge over the Inn River to the pedestrian zone in about 5 to 10 minutes. Also, directly across the foot bridge from Gasthof Badl is the Burg Tavern in Castle Hasseg. A terrific medieval dining experience at a reasonable cost. The badl also has a very nice and very reasonable restaurant and bar.
Yes, Hall can be quiet in the evening, but that is part of it's charm for us. Innsbruck's old center (pedestrian zone) is very small and too "touristy" for us. Plus, Innsbruck is quite a large city with lots of traffic, etc.
