We are thinking about staying in Tarascon. It looks like a good location, but I know nothing about the town. Can anyone give me some info on the town?

We were there for an afternoon ten years ago. There's a church with an interesting tradition of parading a dragon to slay called the Tarasc, a chateau to visit, shopping, directly across the river from another town, Beaucastel, which is well-known for the Rhone wine Chateauneuf du Pape. Good jumping off point for visiting in many directions.

We took the bus to Tarascon from Arles last June during the festival. Nice town, and I recommend it, but will you be driving because the bus and train connections out of there may not be as convenient as Arles or Avignon. By the way, I emailed the tourist office about the festival and they snail mailed me a bunch of nice brochures.
