Information on Rhineland?

Hi All --
We are going to Europe in March and I have figured out an iten. which I want to stick with as I can't change my flights (got them on miles.) We are landing into Brussels and leaving out of Frankfurt.
This is what I have planned
1) Brussels - Paris
2) Paris - Amsterdam
3) Amsterdam - Germany

We will have 3 full days in Germany and I thought we can explore the rhineland area. Can anyone give me more information about this area? What city could I take the Eurorail into?

Thanks.

Simran, how many days do you have in total? There is too much to see, visit and explore in the BeNeLux/Germany area. Paris might be a big detour. Then again if Paris is your actual main goal then maybe Amsterdam is the one off the path...

First, there is no such thing as "Eurorail". It the obsolete name of a pass by Eurail, which is a consortium of European rail companies organized to sell train passes.

You can take German Rail into a number of German town along the Rhein, including Koblenz, Braubach, Boppard, St. Goar, or Bacharach. Rick Steves' Germany has a very good desciption of this area, what you should see, and where you could stay.

See www.bahn.de.

First of all, I've traveled to everywhere on your itinerary, and I agree with Andreas in that I would skip either Amsterdam or Paris. There are some great day trips out of Paris and Amsterdam; you could lengthen your stay in either place and spend more time in Germany. For information on the Rhineland, look at Rick's Germany book; the Rhineland is what he covers the best in Germany. Also click on Rick's best destination sights. Here's his Rhineland link: http://www.ricksteves.com/plan/destinations/germany/germ_menu.htm

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I am not going to cut down anything. I know exactly what we want to see in each city, we are there for a total of 13 days excluding travel time. I just want some information about the Rhineland area, which I will get after readings the books recommended. Thanks so much for all the help. Keep the responses coming. :)
