Hi, I am 20 and am going to be going to Europe with my older brother at the beginning of August. We want to go to Germany, and because Prague is close by, I was curious about it. How many days are recommended to really see the city, and what sort of stuff is there for the younger crowd, like me? I read that Prague is less expensive to visit than other EU cities. Is this true? Thanks.
Tej, we were in Prague 2 years ago with my kids (then 19 & 17). They liked Prague very much. We were there for 3 nights and while I'm sure we didn't see everything, we did get a good taste of the city. I understand that Prague has gotten a reputation as being a "party place" for the European crowd and it certainly did seem to be full of lots of young people. My own kids didn't got out at night on their own but I'm sure you'll find plenty to do. I didn't find it to be that much cheaper than the other places we had visited. The beer was certainly inexpensive but hotels right in the center and meals near the main tourist sites all seemed to be average for a big city - but not cheap.
We really enjoyed Prague and the only thing I'd look at is the time it will take for you to get there. Don't know where you will be in Germany, but I think it was about about a 4 hour drive from the Munich area - so be sure to check the train schedules - if that is the way you are getting around.
Whoa....Rags and Tejas.....slow down! Several posts have already suggested you take it a little slower than 11 cities in 11 days.....5 cities and a beach in 11 days....and now Germany and Prague, plus Paris and etc in 11 days! Still way too much! Don't worry, you'll be back!
Thanks for the post. I am really starting to focus only on maybe one to two other (near-by) sites to go other than Paris.
