After an exhausting search of over 100 Paris hotels, I can't find any in the 85 Euro or less price range that have air conditioning. Any suggestions?
If Rick Steve's doesn't know any - I sure don't.
Try the Ibis Tour Eiffle Cambronne, which has "ventilation cooling," meaning they blow cold air through a ventilation shaft that has an outlet in each room. We've stayed there during 80 degree weather and it's been very comfortable. 69 Euro per night during the summer. Check http://tinyurl.com/5s76e. It's part of the Accor hotel chain....more of which can be found at www.accorhotels.com
The New Hotel, across the street from Gare du Nord has air conditioning. It's also a very cheap hotel.
Hotel Leveque has doubles for a little more than your budget target. They have a/c in the summer. If you can't find what you want in your price range, sometimes it is necessary to try finding a place at a little higher rate. If your schedule is flexible, travel before or after summer when a/c is not usually necessary. Some hotels have fans that help with the heat.

This is a link to the EuroCheapo review of The Tiquetonne, a great old budget hotel that has air conditioning, is in a wonderful location, and only cost 50 EUR per night for a double with bath.
The Ibis Carbonne and Hotel Tiquetonne both look good and in my price range. I found one website that indicated Hotel Tiquetonne is closed in August. I don't know how dated that website is though - can anyone confirm whether or not Hotel Tiquetonne is closed in August?
If I upped that range to 100 Euros (which for me would be splurging on a nice place), would there be any additional suggestions? I was looking into Tourisme Hotel too...
We stay at the Ibis in all major cities. They are always clean, consistant, below the average rate and have a bar and serve breakfast. The breakfast is extra, but reasonable. You won't be in your room, so splurge somewhere else. Like our splurge is staying in a castle!
Check accor chain they have a great range of hotels and their air conditioning works well.www.accorhotels.com
Make sure what you see for other hotels is air conditioning vs a/c air cooled. other budget type hotels with air cond many times do not work well and you pay extra, at least that has been my experience and disappointment espec when temps reach 90 F.
Hotel de Turenne is where we've booked; within your price range unless you need a triple.
I agree about the hotel Turenne. It's not plush but the staff is OK & it's very close to the metro. I've stayed there every other time I've been to Paris always alternating with a new place looking for the best place for the buck. I'm staying at the Turenne again this fall.
We stayed at a motel 6 type place in Bussey St. Georges for $58/night, family room for 4, found it on hotels.com It was small, but clean, worked for us. It was about halfway between Paris and Diseyland.
