In Barcelona, is Via Laietana difficult to cross?

My wife and I visit Barcelona for a week in September and are renting an apartment in the La Ribera (El Born) district. I've just read a comment in RS' Spain 2008 book where he says that La Ribera is separated from the Barri Gotic by Via Laietana, "a busy 4-lane highway." For those of you who have experience with the Barri Gotic and La Ribera, will crossing this highway be a problem? Are there crossovers or multiple cross walk areas? Thanks.

Will, there is absolutely no problem with crossing the street at any of the crosswalks, which you'll find at the end of every block. El Born is a great neighborhood, and a good place to start exploring the city.

Is that Kirkland AFB, or some other place?
