My husband and I are flying into Frankfurt and land in the early afternoon. We are headed to his Grandfathers birth place in Hille. Would like to stay 1/2 way? An ideas?

Hi, If you're doing this by train en route from Frankfurt Hbf. and prefer a larger place than a small town, I would suggest Münster/Westfalen, somewhat to the west where you want to go. To stay in smaller town closer to your destination, esp. if you're driving, then I suggest Minden an der Weser...a nice quaint town. I liked Minden, and esp if you want to see the historical monument on the hill. I don't recommend Hannover. If you're taking the train, take the ICE Frankfurt Hbf-Hannover Hbf, change to Minden, then go to Hille. Landing at FRA in the early afternoon, you can be in Mnden by train by ca. 18:00 or so.
