Hello, I am looking for advice on going to the Balearic Islands. My friend and I are both 24 years old, and are looking to go to one of these islands for 5 nights in November (the 11-15). Does anyone have any suggestions of one island over the other? they both look majestic, but we have limited time. Also, are hostels the best way to go? we are both already going to be broke from this trip, and are hoping to save money in any way we can.

I haven't been to either place, but my son went to Ibiza last year and loved it. Beautiful island and the mecca for clubs, specializing in EDM. He dreams of going back there again.

Have you considered the weather? November is not really the best time to go to either. You could check out the Canary Islands, their climate is warmer year-round.

Ibiza, Ibiza, Ibiza.... well, if you like clubbing anyway. It is an absolute mecca for partying although in November things will be quieter. Both Ibiza and Mallorca are summer destinations and the population declines significantly in the winter. If you do decide to go to Ibiza I would recommend staying in or around Ibiza Town rather than San Antonio. SA is notorious for drunken, loutish behaviour whereas Ibiza Town is much more refined (and more attractive). Ibiza was my holiday destination year after year when I was in my early 20's however I'm 35 with two young children now so the days of clubbing till 8 in the morning and sleeping on the beach before hitting the pubs at midday have gone. On that basis Mallorca has now become the island of choice for us.
