I will be traveling with students this summer. Most of whom (including me) have I-phones (either 3G, 4G or 4S). We have asked the service providers (mostly Verizon) and get conflicting answers. Will these phones work in Spain and France?

No. You will need to have Verizon issue you a separate phone to be used in Europe. You keep your same phone number and Verizon charges very little to do this. in fact, they sent the phone to us by mail. For convenience sake, we return it to a local office. Have a great trip!

Through RailEurope I just read that you can purchase a SIM card that will work with your iphone4g. http://www.raileurope.com/activities/ekit-phone/index.html Maybe this will help?
