Hut to Hut hikes in the Berner Oblerland

My wife and I (both late 40's) and our two girls (11 and 12) are planning to spend a few days in the Berner Oblerland next summer. We stayed in Gimmelwald several years ago and loved it but thought it would be fun to do a hut to hut hike (not sure if I have the right name, we want to hike from one small inn to another and then back again). I don't remember hearing about any hikes where we could start in Gimmelwald, hike for 5 ish hours, spend the night somewhere then hike back on another route.

thanks

I wonder if most overnight hiking routes in the region would be too strenuous for 11-12 year old girls. My favorite hike, from Schynnige Platte to First, staying at the wonderfully rustic Faulhorn mountain inn, includes a 2,000ft vertical rise over 5 hours (6,800ft to 8,800ft). If you started from First it would be mostly downhill.

Or you could do a hike at the southern end of the Lauterbrunnen valley, from Stechelberg right below Gimmelwald. Two inns in that area are Tschingelhorn and Trachsellauenen. Lower altitude but could also be bit of a climb. These are covered in the book "Switzerland's Mountain Inns" by the Liebermans - recommended reading.
