My wife and I fly to Paris on Tuesday and today is Wednesday and we are not ready. We have plane tickets and passports. But how can we find an inexpensive romantic place to stay (in June) with so little time? We have been looking at airbnb, but it is inefficient because many listed places turn out to be unavailable.
Finding something inexpensive in June is pretty much impossible, especially since you're leaving in less than a week. That being said, I would go to something like Tripadvisor and search for hotel rooms that way. Here's a search from what I found: Tripadvisor Search Good luck!
All of central Paris is romantic, but you will likely have a tough time finding an inexpensive room with a view at this late date, unless you luck out and get in on a cancellation. If I were in your shoes, I'd get cracking on Booking.com and check every possibility from lowest price upwards until you score. Try the Oberkampf district (11th arrondissement). Good luck!
You could rent an apartment from vacationinparis.com. They are based in the U.S, so you could give them a call and ask if they have any apartments available next week. If they do, you'll likely get a deal since it's last minute. Good luck!
Steve here it goes, never mind your fantasy of finding "inexpensive and romantic" with 6 days notice in one of the two busiest hotel/accomadation months of the year ( the other being September). Find something quick. Suggest you start looking by trying a booking site, all the cute cheap hidden gems a lot of us could recommend are undoubtly booked by now. Venere is a reliable site. You can at very least get hotel names from Venere that have availabities for your dates, then go to hotels websites if you prefer to book directly. For areas, most like 4th ( Marais) 5th( latin Quarter|) or 6th ( st Germain ) for first time visit, but I can also recommend 14th ( Montparness) 1st ( Louvre) or 7th( ET ) . Many also like the 11 th, and 8th .
I'd say that since you're running out of time and don't have time to research hotels that "quaint" probably is already sold out. I recommend getting a 4-5 star hotel in Paris on Hotwire or Priceline. Normally you can't go wrong with a 4 or 5 star hotel (though 5 stars will probably be in La Defense at the Sofitel there...which is nice enough but it's just a cookie cutter upscale hotel with great bath products).
How important is price and star rating? I would try booking dot com and laterooms dot com and watch their guest ratings. You could consider staying at Roissy-en-france, which right at the airport and taking the blue line into Paris. This is great for your departure night, but is an hour into the center of Paris every day. This could be an alternative being how as your departure date is so close. How many days are you staying?
I suggest the booking.com site. I would definitely scramble for a room and book the first thing that you find that's acceptable location and quality, to avoid paying a bigger pile of money than you would otherwise.
Second vote for Vacationinparis. I have now booked twice with them and they are super! They also have some apartments at discount over the next few weeks. Give them a call!
Thank you all for the suggestions. With Trip Advisor I encountered the issue again of places listed as available that really weren't. Booking.com had some wonderful-looking places, very affordable just outside Paris, very unaffordable in the center. Vacation-in-Paris did have some places that would have worked well for us. However, my wife persisted with airbnb and found a newly listed apartment for $115 a night in the seventh arrondissement, which we secured. Now that that problem is solved, there is still a daunting list of things to do before Tuesday. Thanks again!
Steve - I'd also recommend checking out Vacation in Paris.
