Once we arrive in Nice, we plan to get on a train to see the Arles/Avignon area first, then come back to explore the Cote D'Azur. What's the easiest way to get from Nice airport to the train station?
Lucky you, Carol! Have you purchased your plane tickets already? Because flying INTO Marseilles might be easier (to access Avignon/Arles by train)and then fly out of Nice home. You might get some other good suggestions for your Nice plan...either way, you are going to have a fantastic trip!
Yes, we've already booked our flights in and out of Nice. I'm told the train ride is a beautiful one, so it won't be wasted time. Thanks for your input.
Bus #99 goes directly from the airport to the Nice Ville train station. See here: http://tinyurl.com/2y27w2.
We just returned from Nice two days ago, arrived by train and left by plane. The absolute easiest way to go between the two, about a 30 minute ride, would be to catch a taxi right outside the airport. It's not cheap--maybe 40-50 euros, but it's easy, especially after that long flight.
I suggest you skip the expensive taxi ride and take bus #99 directly to the train staition. It's very easy to find the bus stops outside the airport and there is an English speaking person at the visitor info booth if you need help. The buses are just outside the doors to the left of the visitor info booth. There are about 10 different buses that leave from the airport to destinations all over the area. The stops are clearly marked. #99 comes about every 20 minutes. Cost is 1.50 euro and you pay the bus driver. Have fun!
