Aside from "cabbing it" has anyone ever done this? Any tips? Thanks!
I've never actually done this, but according the the Bahn website, the only way all the way to the Dreiländereck is to take streetcar 8 to the Schifflände, then a ship (ferry? water taxi?) to Dreiländereck. The Basel transit site, www.bvb.ch, shows a stop, also on streetcar 8, at Kleinhünigen, a short walking distance from Dreiländereck. . . . . . . . ¶ Dreiländereck (three countries corner) is where Germany, Switzerland, and France come together in Basel, the German/Swiss border on the east side of the Rhein and France on the west side.
According to the Swiss Rail website, www.sbb.ch, Dreiländereck is a 20 minute walk from the Kleinhünigen stop on the #8 tram. How does the cruise ship company tell you to get there? . . . . . ¶ I think it I were you, I'd take the #8 tram from in front of the SBB station to Schifflände and look around for some sort of water based transportation to Dreiländereck. If I couldn't find anything, I'd take the next tram to Kleinhünigen and walk.
