We will be in Paris the first week of September and have tickets for opening night of the opera. Should I pack a suit
for my husband and how dressed up should I get?
My usual experience with opera in Europe is this: dress up or down as much you want. You will see people in full evening dress and others in jeans. The ushers will only care that you have a ticket.
Thank you. That will certainly help with our packing!
I work for the opera in Chicago and I get this question all the time, and I tell them, dress as if you are going to a nice restaurant. Alot of our patrons wear simple dresses or suits with lovely scarves and jewelry, and sports jackets for the gentlemen. Nothing too fancy, but tasteful.
