I am flying into Madrid arriving at 9:40am (June 24) and want to hop on a train to get to Sevilla. How much time should I allow? In other words, at approximately what time should I reserve my train time for?
Thanks!
Well, you can't be sure your plane will be on time. Immigration and baggage claim may take some time. And then you have to add travel time to Atocha station, which varies by your mode of transport. And time to find your way around the station and to your train. If you arrive in Sevilla too early, your hotel room may not be ready. Given all that. . . The AVE trains depart Madrid for Sevilla hourly. You can get a nice discount on the tickets if you buy well in advance and get the Web fare (33,30 euro instead of 83,30 euro). If I were doing this I would probably book the 13:00 to be safe. We'd spend extra time in Atocha, if any, walking around to loosen up after the flight, and having lunch. This train arrives in Sevilla at 15:30, so you should be able to go directly to your hotel and check in. But maybe others would say you don't need that much time and vote for the 12:00.
