My husband and I were contemplating coming from Lake Como to Switzerland (any suggestions on best way to do that too) how many days would we need to do it justice? Mostly interested in the alps and natural beauty. Also our flight home leaves out of Paris and I could only find an affordable flight on easy jet leaving from Geneva but nothing is set on stone. Any help greatly appreciated!!!
Sarah, In order to provide accurate suggestions, it would help to know which part of Lago di Como you'll be travelling from? In terms of "alps and natural beauty", I would highly recommend the Berner Oberland, outside of Interlaken. You can stay either in Lauterbrunnen, Mürren or Gimmelwald, depending on your criteria and the type of "experience" you want. If you're going through Milano Centrale, you can travel from there to Interlaken Ost in as short as 3H:03M (one change). When you arrive at Interlaken, transfer to the local Berner Oberland train for the short ride (about 20-minutes) to Lauterbrunnen. Which route to take from there will depend on which place you choose to stay (based on the information you provided, Mürren would probably be the best choice). Travel from there to Paris is relatively easy. The trip from Interlaken Ost is as short as 5H:07M, with one change at Basel. Part of that route is via TGV which travels at 300 kmH, so I highly doubt that travelling to Geneva by train and then using a budget flight will be any faster. Happy travels!
