How much time in Colmar?

We are trying to plan a few days in the Alsace region as part of a longer trip to France. We were thinking of 3 days (including travel to and from Colmar) to see Colmar and do a bit of the wine tour. Does this amount of time seem reasonable? Does anyone have a suggestion for an itinerary? We will most likely be driving.

Thanks

Colmar is quite pretty, but 1 day is long enough to see what's there. Think about staying in one of the towns on the wine route, like Ribeauville. Also, since you're so close to the Black Forest, Freiburg, a short drive east of Colmar, is a very lively city to visit (full of college students - great nightlife). Another Black Forest choice is Oberkirche, due east of Strasbourg, which is a beautiful little town with a roaring river rushing through it. Of course, Strabourg is worth being part of your itinerary.

We spent 3 days in Colmar in 2003. We did the wine route tour which was wonderful, did a day trip to Freiburg-it was our first time in Germany and it was a really good day. 3 days are certainly enough. We headed to Brussels after that, so we took the train to Strousburg and spent the afternoon and evening so we could catch our early flight. A great area to visit.
