Hello! We're currently planning a trip to western Europe and have 15 full days to visit (not including flying days). We're flying into Zurich and departing from Rome. The only thing we have planend for sure is Oktoberfest in Munich for a few days. Outside of that, we have nothing firm. What are some good recommendations on cities to visit between, and adequate lengths of stays. We don't want to be on trains the whole trip, so we'd rather stay longer in a city and get a better feel for it. We'll do the touristy stuff, but are more interested in discovering a city. So any help is appreciated!
It's probably already becoming hard to find lodging in Munich during Oktoberfest, so the 1st priority would be deciding the dates you will be there and getting reservations made now. For an itinerary, I'd suggest the following: Lucerne - 2 (can take train directly from ZRH airport) Lindau - 2 (beautiful city on Lake Constance) Munich - 4 Florence - 3 (or another city in Tuscany)
Rome - 4
Thanks! We have booked a room in Munich, currently 4 days after we arrive in Zurich. We land at 8 am in Zurich on a friday, and then are scheduled to check in Munich on Tuesday.
I would spend the time in lucerne. very quaint City. Zurich could be worth a day (the central city buildings are "interesting, but not quaint like Lucerne). But Lucerne has everything Zurich has but more scenic
