How many days for Barcelona?

I am trying to figure out how many days I will need for Barcelona. It looks like many of the sights I want to see are spread out although I understand their metro is pretty good. I plan to see most Gaudi sights, La Sagrada Familia, Montjuic, and just to enjoy the city. I also factored in one extra day for Figueres and Cadaques for the Dali sights (can it be done in one day without a car?)

Thank you in advance.

Hi Suzann, we did everything you mentioned in your post and more, and we spent five days in Barcelona, on a map it seems far apart, but the metro is very good. For Cadaques and Figueres, we rented a car for a few days and did some of the costa brava, but maybe there is some day tours from barcelona. I would like to suggest the Picasso museum, it was one of our favorite's, and Montserrat which is near Barcelona, and easy to reach by metro/train. With 5 days we did not feel rush at all, we had time to walk La Ramblas many time, visit La Boqueria (outdoor marquet) and even go to a football game one night. When you go to Montjuic try to catch the fountain show at night, it was nice.

Suzann,

My husband and I spent three nights in Barcelona this past Oct. We saw all the sights in Barcelona with a lot of time spent in cafes just people watching. We walked everywhere, except La Sagrada, when we took a cab (they are very cheap). Definitely use Rick's book, it helped us find great restaurants at reasonable prices. We loved the ones behind La Boquera market-not great scenery, but excellent food!

Hi Suzann,

My husband and I did Barcelona in three days. We saw everything inside the city. The public transport is excellent, but the city is wonderful for walking. Food is excellent(tapas, tapas!). The only thing we missed was churros.

Set aside several hours for the Sagrada Familia. We were there in March and it was busy, with lines. But more importantly, it is simply magnificent and you'll want lots of time to just look at it. We were there for four hours and I could have used more time.

We've visited several major Euro cities over the years, but Barcelona is the one that made me feel as if there was a party at my feet every minute we were there. Have a ball!

At least five days if you can. We actually walked from Sagrada Familia back to the Ramblas; a little time-consuming but you see so much when you're walking. Barcelona is wonderful!

Like some of the others who posted, we too did 3 days. I felt 3 was do-able but 4 would have been nicer.

Thank you everyone. I think we will stay in Barcelona for 5 full days which will include a day trip to Figueres and Cadaques. Now I just need to find a place to stay.
