My girlfriend and I are planning on spending time between Switzerland and France. Is there enough in the Lauterbrunnen Valley to keep us fully occupied for three days? We plan on hiking and renting mountain bikes, running all over the place on both sides of the valley (Gimmelwald, Murren,Wengen) and the falls, etc. Can we do all of that in 2 days or do we need 3? If we can do it in two then we can extend Paris from 3 to 4 days. Jake & Samantha
I could happily spend a week there and come back for more. If there for only 2 days you risk bad weather. You did not give a time of year for your trip. My answer might have changed dramatically. Our last trip this year we lost a complete day on the high trails due to fog; that wasn't bad, we just hiked to the cheese dudes and had a great time catching glipses of Wengen through the fog. If you counted on good weather and it turned you might be bummed.
mid-june Thanks dude, never thought about the weather.
yes, you can easily spend 3 full days in the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Hiking and biking can keep you quite busy. For the weather, there is never a guarantee on the weather but we have been to the Lauterbrunnen Valley in early June and the weather was spectacular. Some clouds in the afternoon but mostly warm and clear in the morning. Here's are two links for hiking information: http://www.myswissalps.com/berneseoberland/berneseoberland-hiking.asp?lang=EN http://www.gimmelwald.com/hikes.html
We were there for 6 days and were busy the entire time. Love the area!
Jake Are your stays in Switzerland and Paris part of a longer trip? If not, I urge you to extend the length of your trip to Europe. Bobbie
