How far in advance do we need to book tickets to Neuschwanstein in July on a weekday?
I'd say book AS SOON as you can commit (probably today). It doesn't cost more to book in advance and you have a better chance of getting your time or just getting in at all. I think the tickets themselves are "portable", so all you risk if you reserve too far ahead and can't make it is the €1,80 pP reservation fee.
Well, maybe we just hit it on a good day, but we drove up, parked, bought our tickets, and took the bus to the castle all within an hour. We did the same and Schloss Linderhoff.
We also bought our tickets upon arrival and walked up the hill to the castle. Right before the castle there was a restaurant where we bought pommes frittes, water and a beer. We then made our way to the castle for our English tour. It was very easy and organized. Have fun!
If your itinerary allows you to adhere to a reserved tour time, there’s certainly no down side to booking in advance, and you can rest easy knowing that your tickets are already taken care of. Book tickets from their website, or call the reservation center directly…easy and fluent English.
