Hello - I need help learning how to access the Gare de Marne-la Valle TVG train station for a trip my wife and I would like to take from Paris to Arles. We'll be staying in downtown Paris. Can we (hopefully) access Gare de Marne-la Vallee via the Paris metro system? Or do we have to use some other form? Also, we are seniors and I was just about to book tickets for my wife and I to travel to Arles on Wednesday, October 28th at 11:58 AM on the TGV train. But I was cautioned on the SNCF website that because we were booking the "senior rate" ticket that we could not get reserved/assigned seating on the train. Does this mean we could be "bumped" at the last minute even though we would have paid for our tickets? Or does it just mean we may not be able to get two seats side by side. I would appreciate knowing the answer to these two questions before we book our tickets. Thank you ever so much!!!! Gord
Why are you leaving from Gare de Marne-La-Vallee - Chessy?.........When you got the "No Reservation" note it only applied to the 2nd leg of the train ("Discovery Senior") ...The 2nd leg does not require a reservation because it's not expected to be full. No one is likely to have reservations; just sit where you like.
Marne-la-Vallee-Chessy is on the RER Line A from central Paris. Make sure you get the right train as there are two different branches.
Gordon: I think Eileen asked the right question. Why go out from central Paris to the Gare de Marne la Vallee station if you plan to go to Arles? The most direct way would be to travel from the Gare de Lyon in central Paris. I did a test run, plugging in a random date in mid September, and found a 9:46 departure Gare de Lyon-Arles that required no changes and arrived about 1:45 in the afternoon on a 2-level (Duplex) TGV. There are many more morning TGVs, but they tend to go to the Avignon TGV station (in the suburbs of Avignon) where you take a direct nonstop bus to Arles. Save yourself a long trip out to Marne la Vallee and go direct from central paris.
If you're staying in the core area of the city, why not just leave from Gare de Lyon instead of chasing all the way out to Disneyland? I'm not a trainer, but the TGV would probably get you as far as Avignon with a slow-mover on into Arles.
Thanks folks. When I typed in leaving from Paris ... Gare de Marne is what popped into the screen. I'll type in Gare de Lyon specifically and see what happens. Thank you!
Here is some more information on the direct 09:46 TGV from Gare de Lyon mentioned by Roe. If you book your tickets TODAY at www.tgv-europe.com, you can get a Prem's fare of 43.00 EUR. The system will assign you seats and you can print your own tickets.
To access the station you wave bye-bye to Mr Michael Mouse, out the gate of the house of the mouse, and down the stairs. = ---*- = .... P-)
Gordon. I suspected that's what happened...when you type in your city, it wants to prompt you for WHICH STATION. Your pointer probably slipped and clicked on Marne-la-Vallee...it happens to me all of the time. If that happens, just re-type the city (Paris) and re-click on it if necessary to keep it on "Paris" in general - NOT a specific train station. That keeps your options open...
