We're trying to get dialed in on some of the details of our trip in June. How would we get our train reservations set up? We're missing that piece.
Thanks for any help!

You can change it to English in the top right corner. Then go to "Your route to a ticket". The rest is pretty self-explanatory. I believe this is how we reserved our couchette when we did that route....
Hi Amy,
Thanks for the reply. I'm struggling with that website. I put in my departure and destination info with dates and times and it's not producing any results.
Maybe the website's bombing. I'll try again later.
Thanks!
Greg
There are three daytime regional train connections from Prague to Munich that take 6 hours. You can find them on the German Rail website. If you buy a Bayern-Ticket online from German Rail (€28 for up to 5 people), it will cover your transportation from the border to Munich. Then, you can just buy tickets in Praque to the German border (usually Furth im Wald).
There are no night trains directly from Prague to Munich. I think there is a night train from Prague to Dresden, but the non-night-train trip from Dresden to Munich is almost as long as the trip from Praque to Munich.
If it s late June, the schedule may not be available since the schedules ar not postd more than 90 days out. Avoid rservations through RailEurope.
Hi Lee,
Thanks. Actually, we're not traveling at night. We've already got our leg from Munich to Zurich to catch our flight home the next morning. That train leaves Munich at ~ 4:30 p.m. and gets to Zurich at ~ 8:45 p.m. So, we're trying to put the daylight leg together for Prague-Munich.
Any help with that is greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Greg
Frank,
Thanks. Why do you recommend we not use RailEurope?
Greg
You can walk up to any ticket counter in Germany and buy a ticket for the 9:11 train from Prague to Munich for €60,90 (about $80). You could probably get it for less than that in Prague. RailEurope charges $105 (plus shipping?). 'Nuff said?
According to Czech Rail, the fare from Prague to Domazlice, on the border, about half way from Prague to Munich, is 218 Kc, about $11. (Unfortunately, Czech Rail only gives fares online for trips entirely within the CR.)
If you bought a full fare ticket online from German Rail from Domazlice to Munich, it would only cost €41,10 (about $53.50), so you are still looking at less than $65 online from German Rail and at the counter in Prague, for that ticket.
Greg, I'm so sorry! For some reason, I thought I'd read that you were wanting to take the NIGHT train between the cities. That's the link I gave you. If you wanted to do the night train, though... We took it in Sept 2007. In fact, LEE, you helped me book our couchette! The website that I gave him I got from you. :)
Lee,
Thanks for the info. You were absolutely right on. The train does, in fact, leave at 9:11 a.m. (We've already got our Munich to Zurich reservations).
We checked back with RailEurope today. Apparently, since we've got our passes, we've already got our "tickets". However, we don't have our "reservations" for that leg and cannot do so at this point in time. So, that's the missing link. RailEurope told us we could not reserve our seats on that train YET. We are still trying to determine when YET is..
Amy, no worries... You were only trying to help. Much appreciated. :-)

I suspect your travel is later than June 18, which is 3 months from now, the limit for German Rail reservations. I just went through the process for June 15, and it looked like I could book reservations-only for that train. You can book those reservations, soon, from the German Rail website for €4 (~$5) each.
Actually, I have traveled all over German on trains and have never needed reservations. You probably won't either, but if it makes you feel better, get them at the lowest price, from German Rail.
BTW, for those following this thread. That is a regional train, for which reservations are usually not possible, but ALX (Allgäu Express) which operates trains under the German Rails privatization policy, does allow reservations for that train.
