We are taking a cruise that departs from Barcelona. We have secured transportation from the airport via the cruiseline's shuttle. Our arrival into Barcelona from the states is at 8:30 AM, and the shuttle is set to pick us up at 1:30. My questions are first, do we have time to go spend a couple hours seeing La Rambla, and second, what is the best way to get there to maximize time (and still be economical)? Are taxis plentiful to ensure we will find our way back to the airport in plenty of time to catch our shuttle? Also, does anyone know if the taxis take credit cards? It would be nice not to have to get money changed just for a couple taxi rides. We are thinking that we will just rent a locker for our luggage for a couple hours. Thanks for any help!
If you are going to La Ramblas you don't need to go back to the Airport...the Cruise Line dock is right out in the harbor at the foot of the Ramblas. Going from the Airport to downtown and returning is expensive and pointless.
Michele, I've never seen a taxi that accepted a credit card. You can withdraw some Euros from an ATM at the airport (you'll need the money for the locker anyway). At 8.30 am I doubt that a taxi would be as fast as the train. The train lets you off right at Pza. Cataluña, at the top of the Ramblas. Count on a 25 min trip from the airport to Pza. Cataluña. Enjoy your trip.
