Has anyone ever rented a Houseboat in Paris? Pros...Con's? Just thought it would be a great change of pace. Grateful for any experience or suggestions provided.

Haven't done it, but have researched it a bit. Locaboat is one of several houseboat rental agencies in Europe(www.locaboat.com). They appear very well organized, with many boats and routes to serve a wide clientele. Realize that while houseboat rental could be a fascinating alternative to land travel, it is not cheap. Be sure to research all add-on fees (such as fuel!) which can escalate your cost in a hurry.

I may have misread the OP's question. I was thinking cruising boat/barge type, not stationary houseboat. If the latter is what was meant, please disregard my reply.

I've used locaboat quite a bit to get cruisng boats for the canals. I was unaware that they have anything to do with stationary boats or that they have an operation in Paris. I'b be real leary of staying on a houseboat, especially along the river. The Seine is in a concrete ditch as it cuts through the city the noise from the tour boats reverberates preety good, plus, there's the matter of wake bump. Then the business of the heavy street traffic along the upper quai. To top it off, walk along the lower quai and look at the metal plates that encircle the mooring lines those things are called rat guards: There's a reason for them: walk along the lower quai with a flashlight one night and shoot it under the shore side of the bridge structure. If you can get one on St Martin or the little recreational marina at it's lower end, you'd be better off I have no idea if they exist. Or save the idea for Amsterdam or something.
