Houseboat Rentals Paris

Has anyone ever rented/or heard of somone who rented a house boat in Paris? I was wondering how they are and any suggestions about renting one. I have seen some online and it looks like a different alternative to a hotel or apartment rental. There will be 4 of us on this trip. Thanks Wendy

Wendy, I'll bump your question back up, because I think it would be interesting if somebody with personal experience replied. I think this has been discussed at least once in the past, so maybe if you do a search, you can find the thread. I seem to remember that somebody mentioned that every time a boat went by the houseboat would rock and also that rats came out at night along the river.

Go to www.vrbo.com/82128 for full details of one in particular that sleeps 5. On tripadvisor.com, paris forum, you can do a search and find many descriptions and advice about houseboats on the Seine. It sounds wonderful and the tourist boats don't start until 1000 and end around 2300. The nights, they claim, are quiet and the river is tranquil. Worth a look anyway.

Hi all Looked on Trip advisor and and there are many questions about the homeless, safty and if it's really quit. The rats yes they come out at night. But what big citie does not have them. Just as long as they are not on the boat. You even hear story's about the mice and rats in resturants after dark in NY. I am still hoping to hear from someone that has stayed on a boat. And if possible the location. Thanks Wendy

May not apply to Paris specifically, but www.slowtrav.com is usually a good resource for info on low-speed vacations like renting a canal boat. Also, you can Google something like "canal boat france" to get all sorts of rental companies.
