I am in the process of planning a 6-8 week trip to Spain. At least a portion of that time I will be traveling with my children ages 5, 9, 11. As we are really looking to immerse ourselves in the local culture, I am planning to rent a house in either central spain, or costa brava depending on whether I decide the theme the vacation around castles or maritime history and culture. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on sourcing a rental. I seem to have a plethora of choices for coastal spain, but very limited options for central spain. In central spain, I was thinking somewhere in the Castilla Leon, or perhaps outside Madrid or Toledo. I prefer a country house that is reasonably close to a city or interesting village(s). THanks for your help!

that is the way to get to know spain!!! if you're searching for houses (and probably have at least some spanish language skills) search under "casas rurales"
as for location in central spain, i recommend the area around valladolid (i lived there for 5 months)- if you want to travel to other cities, you can get anywhere from there.
