We're planning to travel to Switzerland at the end of July and are wondering if anyone can recommend a villa rental company. We've had great experiences with villas in France and Italy, the idea being that you stay in a rental house for a week or so and then make day trips from there. We're hoping for a location that 1) is reasonably scenic with a rural flavor (but not too far from shopping/restaurants) and 2) close to a train station, because judging from some of the other posts, train is better than car for traveling in Switzerland. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

I don't think they are called villas in Switzerland - but the website My Switzerland.com has links to accomodations in most towns you would want to visit. We rented apartments in Lauterbrunnen and Weggis last summer - stayed a week in both - had a wonderful time. I used the website for both apartments.
Lauterbrunnen is especially easy without a car. You can get everywhere in the Berner Oberland by riding the trains and an occasional bus.
We, too, love staying in one place and doing day trips. You might also try the Slow Travel and Slow Europe sites, but I don't think they have a lot on Switzerland.
You will love Switzerland.....
