Hotels on Mosel River - mid-November

I'm still looking for a decent, reasonable hotel on the Mosel River for around Nov. 14-16th. Andreas suggested a really neat town north-east of Trier but it was booked (it had two names with a "-"). I did a hotels.com search for Cochem & Koblenz -even Koln (Cologne) but the prices were outrageous!!! I can't see paying 150 or 200/night for 3 people -- it's crazy! Esp. in OFF-season. ANY ideas/suggestions/connections?? Someone out there must know someone who can give us a good deal. Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Bonnie,

Have you tried the Trier website?

http://redaktion.trier.de/praefectus/trier?tourist_en

Lonely Planet, Rough Guide, and tripadvisor.com are also good sources for finding less expensive options.

Finally, on many occasions I have just gone directly to the tourist office when I arrived in a town and found a place to stay.

We're staying in Cochem for 3 nights in May and found this great apartment for an unbelievable price. It has two double bedrooms, living room with t.v., kitchen, and bathroom. They also rent out bikes for free - but since it will be Nov. that's not really an issue. It's about a 10 min. walk to the center of Cochem, a few hundred feet from the river, and next to a grocery store and bakery. It doesn't look like they are booked for your dates - the price is 42 euro/night plus 15 euro at the end for cleaning, which comes out to be 47 euro/night. Can't beat that!

If you want "on the river", Pension Dapper in Cochem might work:

Click on "Zimmer" for their double rooms, "Ferienwohnungen" for apartments.

Apartment for 3 with view of the river and small balcony is under 45 euros.

Bullay is a nice little town on a pretty part of the river, though VERY small. I've stayed here - fabulous breakfast included, under 20 euros each:

Click on "Gästezimmer" for more photos.

We booked a room at Haus Lipmann in Beilstein for October 30. It gets great reviews and our room will have a view of the Mosel. Can't remember the cost but it was reasonable.

You guys are QUICK! Thank you! I'll look into ALL suggestions. I'm confident one will work out. I like the Jennifer's suggestion since there will be one couple ~ and me. I prefer my own room. Awesome and ~ Happy traveling!

We stayed in Bernkastel-Kues a few years ago, and really loved it. It is two small towns joined by a bridge across the Mosel. I don't remember the name of the hotel we were in, but there were a number to choose from that weren't that expensive. I would google the name of the city and see what is on offer.

I second Beilstein. Lovely littel town. Try the Hotel Lipmann. They have two properties I think, on in the town center and one on the Mosel. Go for a room at the Mosel site. Ate a lunch in the Mosel restaurant on day. Great spot! Wish I had stayed here instead of Cochem.

Try FeWo Familie Ernst,
www.rolliholiday.de
It is 5 km north of Beilstein and 10km south of Cochem. Cost about 50 Euro/night for 3 room suite -- couple in bedroom, single on couch bed in living-room. My wife and I stayed there the first week of October. Great location.
