We have to spend one night in a hotel near CDG airport prior to flying home. Any rec. and do they provide transport to the airport?
We stayed at the Ibis near Terminal 3. We liked it very much and it is very convenient. It is a 3 minute walk from the RER train stop coming from Paris. When you are ready to go, you go back to the same underground station to catch the free shuttle train to the other terminals.
We stayed here last summer. Decent price (64E) and the breakfast was ok and cheaper booked when we checked in rather than online. http://www.ibishotel.com/gb/hotel-1404-ibis-charles-de-gaulle-aeroport-terminal/index.shtml
We've stayed at several from Etap to some swankier. All were fine and had either a shuttle, could call a shuttle, or were next to the airport (Ibis Terminal 3) or in the airport (Sheraton). We've never had a complaint about cleanliness or convenience and have always stayed CDG airport the night before.
You didn't mention if you are returning a rental car at CDG but if you are, here is a suggestion. Spent the night in the old French capitol of Senlis about 20 KM north of CDG on the A1 Autoroute. Ibis has a really nice hotel located close to the freeway entrance ramp. The freeway is easy on/easy off and the last time we did this we were processed thru the rental car turn-in at CDG within 30 minutes of leaving the hotel. The best part of this is that, instead of an airport hotel with nothing to see or do, you get to spend the night in a lovely old French town with a beautiful cathedral with abundant restaurants and shops. With the cathedral lit up at night it is absolutely gorgeous. Just a suggestion for an unforgettable last night in France
Thanks for all the ideas. We will be coming from Normandy and had planned a midday stop at Monet's house but the Senlis also sounds very interesting.
We have a similar situation, and your suggestion of Senlis for the last night sounds great. Can anyone tell me about public transport to CDG from Senlis? We will not have a car, but it is easy enough to take a train from Paris to Senlis. The problem would be how to get from our hotel in Senlis to the airport in the morning.
Nukesafe, See this page for Senlis-CDG bus timetables. However, please note that the timetables on the site haven't been updated since 2006. If the bus times don't match well with your flight time, you can always take a taxi.
Tim, you are a Prince! Exactly the sort of information I needed to plan such a stay. Looks like the transport schedule is frequent, and it does not take a long time to get to CDG. If the schedules are a bit off, it would be easy enough to ask at the station in Senlis when we arrive.
I know this thread is a bit older, but I'm seeking similar advice. Senlis sounds really nice, but are there any similarly interesting and real towns to stay in west/southwest of Paris within an hour or so drive from CDG? I'll need to return a car at the airport.
The Only Suites get a ton of awful revires on Tripadvisor.
