hotels in Zurick

The train is a very easy way to get to the airport as long as the first one (posted by Lee) goes in time. We like to stay right in downtown Zürich and walk to the station in the morning to get to the airport. The trains go right into the airport terminal. Our favorite hotel so far is Hotel Adler in the Altstadt, but this is not as close to the main rail station as others, such as Hotel St. Josef. People have done really well, price-wise with using Priceline for Zürich hotels, but you can't really control the location all that well, and may end up with something a taxi ride away instead of walking distance to the station. Or you could stay right IN the airport at the very trendy Radisson Blu. We did that on our last visit (2010) and it was very "cool" and surprisingly quiet-no airplane noise at all. We rode the train into the city for dinner and the Zürich celebration that was going on that night, then returned for bedtime. The next morning, all we had to do was head downstairs to board our flight. In 2010 they had a very good price on advance-purchase weekend night rooms (150 CHF) but I don't know if they will ever do that again.

Miriam, Do you mean Zürich in Switzerland? If so, the train is an easy answer. It goes right to the airport. Spelling is important as you search.

Speaking of spelling, on the German Rail (Bahn) website, "Zurich" will bring up the airport as an option but not the Hauptbahnhof (but you can force it with "Zurich HB". Better to use the alternate spelling, Zuerich. That brings up both the HB and the Flughafen (airport). The first S-Bahn of the morning is at 5:02 and goes directly to the airport in 12 min. After that they run about every 20 min.
