Hotels in Paris near metro and Gare Du Nord

My sisters and I are planning a trip to Paris in April. We are looking for a hotel which has easy access to both the Grayline tour bus terminal (near the Tuileries metro) and the CDG airport. We are hoping to take the 14.5 hr tour to the Normandy beaches and don't want a lengthy metro ride to get to the bus station. We also don't want numerous metro or train changes to get to/from the airport. Of course, we are traveling on a budget, so price is also a factor. Any suggestions?

Hotel De Place du Louvre, you would have to walk down Rue Du Rivoli to other side of Lourve( hotel is right beside it) to get to the meet point for tours, about 5 minute walk straight down the street, easy peasy. When you arrive at airport you simply jump the RER into Paris, you can get off at Chatelet des Halles and walk to hotel, about 10 minutes. Why near Gare Du Nord? Would not be my first choice. Budget may be only issue.. at this date bet prices for April are going up. Anyways hotel is nice, clean, nice staff, convenient to many things, you can walk to many sites and the while the hotel is right beside Louvre, its on a quiet street, and only a block from Siene.. I have stayed there twice alone and really liked it , but I got good deals at the time, it can be tad pricey when on full rates( for me anyways).
I also suggest not getting the "duplex" rooms, they are two levels and the bathroom was up steep stairs that I didn't really like. The duplex rooms are not the cheapest so don't worry, I was given a free "upgrade" to it because I asked to stay an extra night after I arrived and it was all they had empty and they were nice enough to give it to me at same rate as my cheaper room.

Thanks for your quick response and a suggestion for my dilemma. I went immediately to their website only to find out that they are already sold out for the dates we will be in Paris. Guess lots of others have heard that it is a nice hotel so I'll have to keep looking.

Hi Sharron, My husband and I are going to be in Paris for 2 1/2 days in early June. We have never been to europe. So it seems quite confusing to me. We too want to take the all day tour to Normandy. Which tour company did you pick and why? I have read about so many tours, it is hard to pick. We are on a Budget and some of the tours are really pricy. I am also trying to get a hotel close to the pick up stops for the tours, so we don't to take too much additional transportation to get there. Any suggestion? Tours and hotels???? Pattie

Pattie the bus tours to MSM or D Day beaches ARE all pricey, if you want cheap then its best to take a train to Bayeaux and pick up tours from there, but that would be better done as an overnight ( it is possible to do it as a daytrip , I have not myself, part of problem is many of local tours leave in am and your train may not be early enough for you to pick up tour, I have heard of those who have done it by rental car, but this is all third hand). The tour companies from Paris that I know best and they are considered reputable are Cityrama and Parisvision( I have read they have now combined into one company now) . Viatour sells tours, but they are not a tour company themselves they sell other companys tours. Cityrama is part of Grayline. France Tourisme does tours too, I think a poster here ( Frank?) did one of their tours to Normandy last year, hopefully he sees this post and chimes in.

We did find what sounds to be a nice hotel only two metro stops closest to the bus terminal for the Grayline tours. Even though the price of the 14 1/2 hr tour IS rather pricey, we did not want the hassle of taking a train, staying overnight, etc with other less expensive tour options. After factoring in the cost of transportation, hotel (would want to leave luggage in Paris so then paying for two rooms), etc we decided it was worth the price to go with Grayline. It was also the one recommended by our travel agent.
