Can anyone suggest a hotel for a 58-year-old woman traveling alone to Paris, preferably in the Marais neighborhood? BTW, the Hotel Castex is already booked. Thanks.
A budget option is Hotel Jeanne d'Arc in the Marais. We've stayed there twice--the rooms are small but it's a good location. I don't think that they have A/C so it depends on when you plan to be there--if it's summer that might not work. Isle St. Louis isn't so far away--you could check hotel options there--Hotel Deux Iles or Hotel de Lutece.
I like to stay here: http://www.le-sevigne.com/ang_accueil.htm Definitely a budget option, steps from the St. Paul metro, clean, quiet, nice view down the Rue de Rivoli.
Last year we stayed at the Villa Beaumarchais. The furniture was a little shabby but the room was clean, the breakfast buffet was excellent, and the staff were very helpful.
I'll second Le Sévigné!
