I am having trouble finding "Just the right" hotel in these cities. I have contacted some of the RS hotels and they have not gotten back to me (it has been 2 days). Some of the RS hotels are way out of our budget. I know these cities are a little more on the $$$ side. But can anyone help with some advice on what hotel to say in?
What are you willing to spend per night? I found the the hotels in Nuremberg to be very affordable. It's not uncommon to see rates at some of the four star business hotels around 100 euros a night. I had a pleasant stay at the brand new NH Hotel. Nearby there are three separate budget Ibis hotels all clustered near the main train station.
I did check the ibis hotels and the one that RS has in his 2009 book wanted 169$ for 2 nights in a double room. I also checked Ibis nuernberg city hotel and they a little less. I may go with them. I am still shopping and just trying to get a good area, close to stuff. I will check the hotel you listed in your post. Thanks!
That is a bit pricey for Nuremburg, it's possible there is a trade show or some other event going on during your stay. In terms of location, the are around the train station is excellent, just across the street is the main gate to the old city, and underground is the U-Bahn station. When are you going to be in Germany?
We will be staying in Nuremberg Sept 19 and 20th. I can't get Hotel Probst to respond to my e-mail and I don't have access to fax to try and fax some of the other RS hotels that don't have websites. I am kind of scrabbling at this point. Hotel Ibis Nuernberg city has 3 rooms for 2 nights total 360$ US, Which is better than the 508$.
Head over to http://www.kayak.com. I entered your dates and found a lot of great rates at around $100 USD per night, in the city center.
So around 100$ US is what we should expect to pay?
In my travels, $100USD a night is always a good deal;)
hrs.com has the Ibis Nuernberg City for 59 euros per night for 19 & 20 Sept, 79 euros with breakfast.
It has other similar deals and working through them has been great for us.
Lisa, check out the website www.hotel.de and search for Nuernberg. You have to put in your dates in the following format: 9/19/2010 through 9/21/2010 (month, day, year.) I checked for hotels near the central square and came up with several under $100. I would definitely go for one that includes breakfast. Some don't and in some you have to pay for breakfast. It tells you below the price info. The breakfast buffet in a German hotel is usually very good, a solid meal, with lots of variety and more than one cup of coffee. As you probably know, they don't usually have free refills in European restaurants. You could also google "Pensionen" and find lodging often cheaper than hotels. I'd do this for both cities. By the way, the hotel.de website is in English. You can click on the hotels and see pictures and get more info. Good luck!
Check rates with www.trivago.de. In Nuremberg the Park Inn (by Radisson) at the moment is €40 per room and night. Also consider the MotelOne chain. They've got nothing to do with your typical US type motel, they're more like low budget but stylish boutique hotels with small rooms (www.motel-one.com).
Thanks for the websites...I will start looking now.
