Hotels in Nueremberg and Wurzburg

My wife and I are returning to Nueremberg and Wurzburg after an absence of many decades. We will be accompanied by our adult daughter. We have taken note of Rick's recommended hotels and wonder if anyone has stayed at one in either or both cities. We will need accommodations for three adults and, most likely, have a car. Parking is a condsideration. Due to time we would like to be located in the Altstat, if at all possible. Thanks.

We also returned to Würzburg and Nürnberg last year with our adult daughter and son after years.

In Würzburg we have stayed in the Sankt Josef and the Barbarossa. Both were good hotels. Sankt Josef had a little better breakfast and a decent restaurant. Barbarossa was newly remodeled and had a walking-in shower, which we prefer. The breakfast room at the Barbarossa has a nice view out over the city to the vineyards. We would stay in either again.

In Nürnberg, we stayed at the Ibis Marientor. It was a good location just outside the pedestrian zone near the train station. It had parking. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel is a recently remodeled chain hotel, nothing special but everything worked and the staff were very nice. We made our reservations through HRS.com, Hotel Reservation Service. All three hotels are at time reservable through HRS.

We visit Nurnberg every year and always enjoy a wonderful stay at the Hotel Victoria. It is just inside the city gate across from the train station. In Wurzburg we always enjoy staying at the Hotel Alter Krannen. It sits along the river with great views of the Marienberg heights. The breakfast buffet at both is fabulous. Cheers. Steve.

Ed, think about staying in Dettlebach, just south of Wurzburg. My wife and I did so last August and made day trips to Wurzburg. Dettlebach has wonderful B&B. While in Nurenburg, we stayed at Koenigstor ([email protected]) www.accorhotels.com We have used the accorhotels chain quite a few times and have always found them to be clean and reasonably priced.
