My 20 yr old daughter and I will be in Nice at the end of June. We're looking for an inexpensive safe hotel. We'll be in Nice for a few days, then in Paris for a few days, then back to Nice. Ideally, we'd like to be able to leave some luggage in Nice while we travel to Paris. My daughter will have extra luggage as she will have just finished a 5 wk study in Rome.
Hotel Massena is not "inexpensive", but it's mid-range and has a wonderful location...easy walking distance to Old Nice and the beach. Just FYI..we loved it.
I can tell you where NOT to stay: Hotel Felix. It may be inexpensive but we found it to be noisy and dirty. We ate the cost of the first night's stay and moved to a wonderful hotel, Le Royal, right on the Promenade. However I don't think that one will be "inexpensive" in June.
Thanks for the input. From a quick check at booking.com, The Hotel Massena is booked. The Le Royal does have rooms available. I think I might need to contact hotels directly because of my "split" stay - maybe i can get a better rate than booking 2 seperate stays. Thanks also for the "where not to stay".
We enjoyed the Hotel St. Georges in spring 2007. Euro 80 per night - I don't think you can go wrong.
Cathy,
You might have a look at Hotel Suisse. It's right at one end of the Promenade des Anglais, and some of the rooms have an incredible view down the beach. It's also within easy walking distance to the "old town" where there are lots of restaurants, street markets, etc.
Happy travels!
Another recommendation for Le Royal. We had a room with a tiny balcony and an unforgettable view of the Med. Great for people watching from above and for watching the sunset. It wasn't inexpensive but seemed reasonable for such a great location.
Look at Etap and Ibis. They are reasonable priced hotels and there are several in the area. Prices start around 50 Euro and up, depending on location and time of stay. Each hotel sleeps 3 to a room in two beds. Toilets in in-suite and I think all have ac.
