Can anyone recommend a reasonable hotel in Nice? Has anyone stayed at the Hotel St Georges or Hotel de la Mer recommended in Rick's Provence and the French Riviera Guidebook.

Bonjour JoAnne, Last May we thoroughly enjoyed Hôtel Mercure Marché aux Fleurs in Nice. We also stayed at the Meridien but that's just too business like for us. The Mercure had character, a lovely view of the Mediterranean, very nice petit déjeuner and conservative but friendly enough staff. Sorry I can't helf with the hotels you mentioned but I thought some comments would be helpful.

Hi JoAnne. This past spring we stayed in Antibes. Just a short (less than 20 min) train ride from Nice. Stayed @ Hotel Pension le Mas Djoliba (www.hotel-djoliba.com), a Rick recommendation. Really liked Antibes - we walked to dinner in the main town every night. Yet it was close enough to Nice.
