Has anyone stayed in the Monopol Swiss Q Hotel across from the train station in Lucerne? It seems we are "late" in making plans for Christmas eve/day in terms of finding a family room for ourselves and two teens.

... We have no experience with Monopol Swiss Q, but we have taken rooms a number of times in two places: (1) Hotel Balances (2) Chateau-Hôtel Gütsch. With the dollar being so weak, prices at (1) will astound you; Balances (2) being not as steep, but far from cheap. If you elect to take rooms elsewhere, keep the Gütsch in mind as a neat place (view from Gütsch hill is terrific) to have breakfast; take the fennicular from river level to the hotel level.
