I will be Lucerne for one night the first part of April. I read some of the suggestions of hotels in Lucerne and they are all quite expensive (over 250E). Does anyone has any suggestions for a less expensive place to stay. I would love to stay at a family owned place to get of a feel for the area rather than a big hotel. I will be taking the cable car up to Mt. Pilatus the day I am there. I don't know if that makes a difference where to stay.
Thanks so much for the suggestions I will check the map right now for small towns around the area of Lucerne.
Unfortunately, Connie, Switzerland is an expensive place to visit, but I wish you luck and imagine you will be able to find something that meets your needs.
I stayed at the Drei Koenigs, but I don't remember how much it was. Small hotel in walking distance to the bridges, the train station and the old city center. It is on the post office/train station side of the river.
I went on Hotels.com and checked the pricing for Hotel Drei Koenige where I stayed before. It was $116 per night in early April. It is a 3 star hotel and it was quite nice as I recall. There is no on-site parking if you are driving, but just down the block is a parking garage and a supermarket if you need any essentials.
SAm,
are you talking about this hotel?

Rated # 7 of 70 hotels in Lucerne, at a daily price of $188 (US dollars). It has a small hotel feel to it (very good staff). Right next door to the Picasso museum, near good restaurants...you couldn't ask for a better hotel at this price.
